Exclusive Uni Food Seires - NTU

NTU may be an 'ulu' place, but it's certainly not lacking in good food! Allow us to showcase the delectable yummies NTU has to offer. CAUTION: EXCESSIVE DROOLING. You have been warned. ;)

Incoming freshmen, you're in for a treat because you've arrived just in time to enjoy the newly-opened food court, fast-food outlets and restaurants at Canteen A!

Don't miss the palatable fishball soup, 'bak chor mee' and 'xiao guo mian' at the
fishball noodle stall located at the food court. If the queue there is too long and you're rushing for lesson, head down to the Indonesian food stall, where the service is as efficient as the chicken is tasty. If you have a craving for 'zi char', try the Mini-wok stall, where you get piping hot rice with fried pork or chicken in various yummy sauces, topped with a sunny side-up. Oh, you wouldn't want to give the popular Japanese food stall a miss either.

Plus, your favourite fast food brands are here in NTU too. Get your Big Macs, Subway sandwiches, Canadian pizzas and Old Chang Kee goodies at students' price! Also, treat yourselves to popular restaurants such as Sakae Sushi, where you get to enjoy great food and wonderful ambience.

In the midst of newbies, let's not forget our old favourites!

Canteen 2 is arguably the most popular hall canteen,
because it offers the best beefball soup, western food and economical rice on campus. Not to mention its mouth-watering waffles, crispy and fragrant. You can choose from a variety of spreads such as chocolate, blueberry and peanut butter (shiok!).

Meanwhile, Canteen 4 is THE place to go for authentic 'zi char' on campus! Do make a trip down to enjoy its sumptuous seafood toufu claypot and prawn paste chicken dishes, served with a generous amount of warm fluffy rice.

Fans of Korean food, Canteen 13 is the only place in NTU to satisfy your craving. But before you bemoan that sad fact, you'll be happy to know that the Korean food it serves is value-for-money and tantalising on your taste buds, especially the beef bulgogi and barbecued chicken and pork.

For lovers of western and Japanese food, it is a must to visit Canteen 14! Best known for its deliciously satisfying mix grill, the western food stall is always packed with people during lunch and dinner times. The Japanese stall is not doing too badly either. Its teriyaki chicken, soft shell crab don and other delights are always worth a try!

Ok stop drooling already and do try them all for yourself when uni starts! CAUTION: EXPANDING WAISTLINE. Once again, you've been warned. ;)

Exclusive Uni Food Series—NUS

Hey freshmen!! Are you already thinking about which canteen to go to when school starts? Or which stalls should you avoid or patronize? Well, we’re embarking on a University Food Series starting with NUS, providing you short excerpts on where to go and what to eat there.
Caution: may cause your mouth to water!

Arts Canteen (The Deck) – Voted best Canteen 2007

When you are in the newly renovated Arts Canteen, the Laksa Yong Tau Foo is a must try! Move two stalls left and you’ll have the stall selling a variety of affordable and tasty Japanese cuisine. Oishi! Try a mini steamboat at the Si Chuan stall for dinner! As for drinks, try the homemade ice lemon tea sold by the drink stall (not the fruit juice stall) which leaves a dry after taste. If you are looking for something light or something to munch on during lecture, pop by the snacks stall and pamper yourself with a waffle.

Engine Canteen (Techno Edge)

Have you been to the Indonesian Pandang stall located in Plaza Singapura Food court? (Yes, the one with the snaking queue all the way to the back of the food court during peak hours!) We have our own Indonesian Pandang stall too! It serves a wide selection of BBQ, fried or curry drumstick, fish fillet and chicken chop meals! Sure to leave you satisfied! Besides the Indonesian stall, the Western food stall holds its own with its hotplate and baked rice or pasta meals. If you are craving for some fast food or ice-cream, MacDonalds is just behind the canteen!!

Business Canteen (The Terrace)

Ask any senior what should you eat in the Business Canteen and most will tell you Western Food! The Western food stall at the Business Canteen is probably the best Western food stall in NUS and has a great selection of food as well as unique sides to compliment your meal such as the mouth-watering German sausages. Not only that, customers will be impressed by the professional attitude of the stall owner. Another worthy mention would be the Beijing dumplings from the Chinese stall which is served only on Thursdays... trust us, you simply can’t get enough of them!

Science Canteen (The Frontier)

As seen on Campus Yummy Hunt, the Pork Ribs Noodle and Ban Mian at the Chinese Noodle Stall is a must-try!!! A new stall selling Chinese herbal soup just opened and we’ve heard that it’s not bad. Do go early though, some soups get sold out really fast. If you are craving for some Gelare waffles with ice-cream, the western food stall (located at the corner) has something similar. Can’t get enough of sweet stuff, try the Chinese desserts at the fruit juice stall, or the ice-cream vending machine beside the western stall! If you are having a big appetite do try the set meals at the newly opened Megabites located on the first level of the science canteen, which will leave you “fully” satisfied.

Prince George’s Park (PGP) “Canteen”

It’s the ONLY air conditioned canteen around NUS! It’s similar to a food court and food here is slightly more expensive as compared to the other canteens. However, there is the famous western food stall Astons (yes, the same Astons that is located opposite Katong Mall), so travel down to PGP when you have long lunch hour breaks!

Cafes, Restaurants, Food Outlets

The Munchie Monkey restaurant, located at Yusof Ishak House (YIH) is similar to Pasta Mania and its upmarket image makes it a good choice for birthday celebrations within school. If you are in the YIH vicinity, alternatives to canteen food would include Subway (show your matric card for discounts!) and Old Chang Kee.

If you are having lectures around FASS, pop by Coffee Club Express for their pastries-- scones and the cheesy mushroom is a must try!

So the above are some of the food we think you should try when you are in NUS. Do take the time to travel to the different canteens and queue patiently when school starts and enjoy your meal! If you discover any new stalls or feel passionately that a certain stall should have been mentioned, do e-mail us or mention it in the tag board!!! =)
